Soren Ervig can rightfully call himself a wilderness adventurer, author, and speaker. For most of his life he has been occupied with nature and wildlife-- as hunter, fisherman, and photographer. He has participated in several public radio and television shows in Denmark, Norway, and Sweden, for example in the programs “Out in Nature” with “Bearhunting in Canada,” “When the World is Theirs” hunting for Danish roe deer—with a camera, and in the fall of 2005, the triology “Eye to Eye with Red Deer, Moose, and Wild Boar!”

With his increasingly quite international background, Soren Ervig can rightfully be called a world citizen, and he has made it his life’s work to seek adventure, excitement, and experience from trips to many of the world’s wildest and most exotic wilderness areas—in order to subsequently communicate the adventures to an increasingly large circle of readers and listeners.

Soren Ervig grew up in Copenhagen, Denmark, and was educated as a taxidermist in Germany with large mammels as his specialty. He worked subsequently in this line of work in Holland, and immigrated to the Untied States in 1966. He lived in Houston, Texas, and later Seattle, Washington, before moving to Northern Norway, where he worked for six years with zoological exhibitions at the University of Tromsø and Tromsø University. From there he returned in 1974 to North America-- Canada, to be specific. After a year in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Ervig continued on west to Edmonton, Alberta, where he completed an education as guide/outfitter, gaining a license to guide international hunters who wished to hunt for big game.

After ten years as a professional guide/outfitter in the border mountains of the Canadian Rockies and Peace River Region, with bear as his specialty, Ervig sold his firm and moved to Vancouver Island, British Columbia in 1985. From his base in the little fishing village of Sooke, Ervig's world travels took off, which led to his work as author taking off, too. Since 1985 Soren Ervig has supported himself as a writer on hunting, fishing, and wilderness topics. He has published articles in periodicals in the U.S., Canada, Germany, Norway, Sweden, and Denmark, and books in several countries. See book publication data here.

Soren Ervig married Danish Tinne Orfanopedis in 2002, and the couple now lives in Denmark, which Ervig uses as his base for a life as wilderness traveller, writer, and as a popular speaker in the Scandinavian countries.
